Amanda Skofstad began serving as public affairs officer for The Episcopal Church in May of 2021 and, in addition to working with communications staff and church leadership to improve the quality of communications within the church, she is charged with maintaining and strengthening relationships with members of the news media. After the presiding bishop, the public affairs officer also serves as spokesperson.

Prior to this role, Skofstad was assistant director of media relations at the University of Notre Dame, where she worked with academics and clergy to develop and place expert interviews, comments, and opinion pieces in national and international news outlets. Prior to that, she served as communications program director for Notre Dame International and worked for ten years in marketing and publicity for religious and theological book publishers. 

Skofstad holds an MFA in creative writing from Bennington College, and her poetry and nonfiction have been published by Free State Review and *82 Review.
