Below are three 2024 publications of the Delaware Communion Magazine.
GOALS: The primary goal of the quarterly, digital Delaware Communion Magazine is to share compelling and relevant stories that highlight the people, ministries, and initiatives within our diocese. These include human-interest features, theological reflections, current events, and other topics of significance—all presented in a visually engaging, immersive, and user-friendly format accessible across all devices.
Using a web-based format (instead of a flipbook) with responsive design ensures smooth navigation for mobile users while offering enhanced accessibility and a more user-friendly experience on laptops and desktops. Including a Spanish translation option highlights our commitment to inclusivity and accessibility for a diverse audience. In 2023, I designed and built this new format in-house, showcasing innovation, resourcefulness, and mindful stewardship of our limited financial resources.
To meet the needs of readers who prefer printed copies, we offer printer-friendly versions of individual articles as well as the full edition of each publication. These versions intentionally exclude images to streamline printing, making it cost-effective and convenient for our readers.
Additionally, the web-based format allows for the seamless integration of multimedia elements, such as short videos, enriching the storytelling experience. By prioritizing ease of use, inclusivity, and engaging content, the Delaware Communion Magazine offers a dynamic platform that connects with and inspires its audience in meaningful ways.
AUDIENCE: The intended audience for this entry encompasses a broad spectrum, including all members of the diocese, parishioners, individuals who attend church without formal membership, seekers on a spiritual journey, and anyone with an interest in the content.
SUMMARY: The Delaware Communion Magazine, an official publication of the Episcopal Church in Delaware, releases periodic issues (Spring, Summer, Fall, and Winter) with a distribution list exceeding 3,200 recipients. This magazine is dedicated to reflective, expository, educational, and occasional narrative pieces, explicitly excluding church or diocesan announcements (the weekly eNewsletter is designed for those type of announcements). Each edition features at least four articles, including a main feature, and often includes a letter from the bishop, with occasional contributions from the editor. The magazine is intentionally inclusive and reader-friendly, offering relevant reflections that resonate with our primary audience while remaining mindful of a broader readership. By offering a responsive web-based format, a Spanish translation option, and printer-friendly options, the magazine ensures accessibility for diverse readers across all devices. Through its engaging content and innovative design, the Delaware Communion promotes connection and celebrates the life of our diocese.
