Episcopal Relief & Development
Episcopal Relief & Development (ERD) works with Church partners and other local organizations to save lives and transform communities worldwide. We rebuild after disasters and empower people to create lasting solutions that fight poverty, hunger and disease. Working in close to 40 countries, our programs impact the lives of approximately 3 million people around the world. ERD’s mandate is taken from Jesus’ words found in Matthew 25. All of Episcopal Relief & Development’s international development programs work toward achieving the eight Millennium Development Goals (MDGs), which aim to cut extreme global poverty in half by 2015. We use the MDGs as benchmarks to evaluate our progress.
Episcopal relief and development has four major program areas:
- Alleviate Hunger and Improve Food Supply
- Create Economic Opportunities and Strengthen Communities
- Promote Health and Fight Disease
- Respond to Disasters and Rebuild Communities
