Information for Participants

Thank you for being a part of the Ordination and Consecration of the Rev. Kevin S. Brown as the XI Bishop of the Diocese of Delaware. This is a very special weekend for our diocese, and you are an important part of it.

Below is some general information to help you navigate the event.

All events and rehearsals take place in the Education & Humanities Building at Delaware State University in Dover. Please note there are two different entrances to the building. The theater entrance is for open seating guests (white tickets) and the main lobby entrance will be for all participants and those who will be processing.


REHEARSALS

Rehearsals for the various service participants will take place on Friday, December 8th and Saturday, December 9th at Delaware State University, Education and Humanities Theater. Tickets for service participants will be distributed later in November. If you have not received your ticket by December 2, please contact Cynde Bimbi at the diocesan office prior to rehearsal. You will need your ticket Saturday morning; it will be checked as you enter the main lobby of the Education & Humanities Theater to vest and gather.

 

FRIDAY – 1:30pm (time approximate following diocesan clergy luncheon)

          Those asked to attend include:

  • Clergy serving as Marshalls
  • Clergy serving as Ministers of Communion

 

FRIDAY – 5:00pm

          Those asked to attend include:

  • Consecrators
  • Bishop-elect
  • Chaplain to Bishop-elect
  • Presenters of the Bishop-elect
  • Readers of Testimonials
  • Litanist
  • Readers of the Lessons
  • Reader of the Gospel
  • Preacher
  • Presenters of the Gifts
  • Master of Ceremonies

 

FRIDAY – 7:00pm

          Those asked to attend include:

  • Choir (please see special instructions below)
  • Musicians

 

SATURDAY – 8:30am

          Those asked to attend include:

  • Acolytes
  • Ushers

FOR BISHOPS:
  • Vestments: rochet, chimere, and tippet (except co-consecrators, who are asked to wear cope and mitre)
  • Vesting for bishops will be in Room EH139 in the Education and Humanities Building at Delaware State University. Please enter the main lobby (NOT the theater lobby) of the Education & Humanities Building. There will be signs and guides to assist you to locate the room. NOTE: Please be sure to have your ticket with you; it will be collected as you enter the main lobby of the Education & Humanities building  to vest. The main lobby doors are located on the side of the building, past the theater entrance doors.
  • Vesting begins at 10:00am; the procession will begin lining up at 10:30am. Marshalls will be on hand to guide you as to where to line up. If the weather is favorable the processions will exit the main lobby and walk outside and enter the worship space through the theater lobby in the back. If the weather is unfavorable the processions will enter through an interior hallway near the front of the theater.

FOR CLERGY:
  • Vestments for Priests: cassock, surplice and red stole
  • Vestments for Deacons: alb and red stole
  • Vesting will take place in Room EH141 of the Education and Humanities Building at Delaware State University. NOTE: Please be sure to have your ticket with you; it will be checked as you enter the main lobby of the Education & Humanities building  to vest. The main lobby doors are located on the side of the building, past the theater entrance doors.
  • Vesting begins at 9:30am; the procession will begin lining up at 10:15am. Marshalls and guides will be on hand to guide you as to where to line up. If the weather is favorable the processions will exit the main lobby and walk outside and enter the worship space through the theater lobby in the back. If the weather is unfavorable the processions will enter through an interior hallway near the front of the theatre.

Please note: Due to occupation limits set by the fire marshal, if you did not RSVP to attend the consecration and were not sent a ticket, you will not be able to vest or be seated in the theater, as we cannot exceed the tickets allotted and distributed. 


FOR ACOLYTES:
  • Rehearsal is at 8:30am on Saturday.
  • Vestments: Wear what is customary for your congregation. Please make certain that albs/robes are of proper length and do not wear athletic or brightly colored shoes
  • Vesting will take place in the main lobby (not the theater lobby) and hallway of the Education and Humanities Building.  NOTE: Please be sure to have your ticket with you; it will be checked as you enter the main lobby of the Education & Humanities building. The main lobby doors are located on the side of the building, past the theater entrance doors.
  • Vesting begins at 9:30am; the procession will begin lining up at 10:15am. Marshalls will be on hand to guide you as to where to line up. If the weather is favorable the processions will exit the main lobby and walk outside and enter the worship space through the theater lobby in the back. If the weather is unfavorable the processions will enter through an interior hallway near the front of the theater.

FOR CHOIR:
  • Rehearsal is at 7:00pm on Friday.
  • Vestments: Wear your home choir’s Sunday morning vestments.
  • Choir call on Saturday is 8:30am. The choir will gather in Room EH138 of the Education and Humanities Building at Delaware State University. Please enter the main lobby doors in the Education & Humanities Building. There will be signs and guides to assist you to locate the room. NOTE: Please be sure to have your ticket with you; it will be checked as you enter the main lobby. The main lobby doors are located on the side of the building, past the theater entrance doors.

FOR GUESTS and PARTICIPANTS IN RESERVED SEATING (blue tickets):

On Saturday morning, please arrive no-later-than 10:00am and enter the main lobby (not the theater lobby) of the Education and Humanities Building. There will be signs and guides to assist you. NOTE: Please be sure to have your ticket with you; it will be checked as you enter the main lobby. The main lobby doors are located on the side of the building, past the theater entrance doors.

Processions will begin forming at 10:15am. Marshalls will be on hand to guide you as to where to line up. If the weather is favorable the processions will exit the main lobby and walk outside and enter the worship space through the theater lobby in the back. If the weather is unfavorable the processions will enter through an interior hallway near the front of the theater.

Spouses or guests of those in reserved seating will receive a ticket for the open seating area (white ticket). All open seating guests should enter through the theater lobby. This will be a different entrance from reserved seating guests.

  • Presenters of gifts and vestments
  • Standing Committee (lay members)
  • Trustees of the Diocese (lay members)

  • Anamchara Fellowship
  • Visiting bishop’s spouses and partners
  • Clergy
  • Bishops
